My Childhood Was Lost…

A POEM

BY YUKTA BHANDARI

My childhood was lost

During those days,

When the skies were grey

Instead of snowflakes,

Bullets fell from those skies array…

My childhood was lost

Through those winds of fear,

Blood and screams

Were common to hear…

My childhood was lost

When my kin went away,

To fight the enemies

That had come to stay…

My childhood was lost

When friends could no longer meet,

Suffering from oppression

Divided by creed…

My childhood was lost

When childhood grew foreign to me,

And dread was destined,

My childhood was lost

During ‘those’ days,

The days I wish you’ll never see.

  1. I have no words to tell how much I am touched by the thought and your choice of the subject. Keep it up Yukta. Good job.
